+Just a simple dress watch? Think again.
Moser & Cie, founded by Heinrich Moser in 19th-century Schaffhausen, Switzerland, is one of the finest fully independent Swiss watchmaking houses in the world. It’s also one of the most playful, having released a watch so black that it literally fades into nothing, and a mechanical watch shaped — quite on purpose — exactly like an Apple Watch.
Moser’s Pioneer line is emblematic of the company’s playful spirit. Designed for adventure, the collection’s watches are extremely robust and water resistant to 120m, but eye-catching and sophisticated enough to pass for horological art.
Take the Pioneer Centre Seconds, for example. This piece features a 42.8mm red gold and DLC-coated titanium case with a sapphire crystal, a DLC-coated crown, and a stunning, luminous sunburst blue fumé dial with applied rose gold indices and a matching 'skeletonized-Alpha’ handset. Powered by Moser’s in-house HMC 200 automatic movement with 72 hours of power reserve, it comes paired to a black rubber strap with a DLC-coated and signed pin buckle.
Very few sport watches on the market so convincingly take on the aspect of a finely crafted dress watch — but that’s because the Pioneer Centre Seconds is both. Classically inspired but contemporary in its execution, it’s a timepiece distinctly of its era.
Give it a try and you’ll see what we mean!
